Goose - What is this, how did it happen, what do I do about it?

Please, please, please, give her a chance to pass the egg, I've heard of the needle technique, but the thought of doing it scares me to death, and I'm one of those that tube feeds and give shots and fluids.

When she's not in the tub, you could also try filling you bathroom with steam.
It scares the heck out of me as well, trust me. I'm one of those that even looks at a needle and feels faint. The things I do for these guys, sheesh. I don't know how long to give her though. 24 hours? Where I am, it's cold, how long before she is so aclimated to the house temps. that I won't be able to put her back with the others? They do have an insulated building and she is going to be in the dog crate out there for a bit as well, or at least that's the hope. A heat lamp won't be a problem either. Oh and does she get another calcium tomorrow?

FWIW, if you can see the shell, I'm pretty sure the egg will come. Just make sure she stays nice an warm and don't put her back outside.

Not tonight. She's in the crate in my living room watching TV right now with my husband. How long do I give her to pass this egg?

Does your tub have class doors? If it does, just keep filling the tub and draining it. Place a towel when she's not soaking.

The longest one of mine took was about 24-36 hours from the time I gave her the calcium. My duck, however, had multiple eggs and a pretty bad prolapse, she lived in my tub for over two weeks.

Can you see the shell?

I'd probably give her another calcium.

Update....Miss Lucy Loo had passed her egg!!!!!!! I want to thank everyone who has been here for us through this problem. I don't know what I would have done without you! This is my first year with ducks and geese and I'm learning with trial by fire most of the time. I can't say this enough...thank-you so very much for taking time out of your lives to see me through this. If the time ever comes I'll be right at your side as well.

I am so happy for you. Give yourself a pat on the back for doing *all* of the right stuff. Keep a close eye on her and her prolapse, she might have more eggs to pass over the next few days. If you feel like the calcium helped, please share that experience with others if you get the chance. You're now a pro, lol!

Actually, while all of the details are still fresh in your mind, you should write down exactly what you did and what you observed, I think your experience will help others. Many people give their bird just one bath, but you, you went all out!
