Gosling Size?

They are adorable and she sure looks good! Alert and keeping up. A few things I’d change is the chicken waterer they need to be able to dunk their heads so they can keep their eyes an nares cleaned and that feeder is for chicks I do use one for first week then it needs to be something that they can get their bills into easier. You can use a broiler and cover with puppy pee pads to protect their feet but will catch excess water. And set their feed bowl up where they can eat out of it but can’t climb in an stand an poop in. I made a waterer for my ducklings and just changed the size of the bottom as they grew. As for Loosie as far as I can tell by watching her she looks very healthy just tiny. Hopefully adding the BComplex will give her the boost to begin to catch up especially the stumbling. I never had that with gosling I’ve had but I always give mine their niacin over their feed ( Nutritional yeast) or if I noticed shaky legs or weakness they get the liquid B Complex.

I like that!

I also saw some videos where people use the tray style chick feeders for water. I have a bunch of extras so I may try that. Another idea is a screen in front of an open container, which I think may be best considering the size of my brooder. 2"x4" garden fencing should make a decent sized guard...allowing them to dunk their entire head into whatever container I put behind it...while keeping them from actually getting IN it lol. I have some larger livestock feeders (for hanging on stalls or fencing that would probably work nicely.

Just have to make sure Loosie can get her little head up high enough for them!

I set up their feeders then took them for a bath lol. I'm really starting to think Loosie is just fine. Her 'face plant' style of swimming is...I think...an effort to dive. Today she did both that, and swam hurriedly without face planting lol.

I also made the water deep enough so that the others could 'swim' vs hiking their legs. They were somewhat diving too...which is what made me realize what she was doing. She was just so tiny she could do it in shallower water, and so...do it before they did!!

Here's a look at the new feed trays. They should do the trick once I get some grating over them I think:

I really do wonder how small she'll stay, lol. A miniature French Toulouse would be freaking adorable lol.

I think your right she looks perfect to me! Just tiny. Which is adorable ❤ love that brooder and the way you set up their feed an water.. I use those containers for grit an oyster shell to. Thanks for sharing and please keep us updated on how Loosie is doing and of course her siblings too.

Absolutely!! Loosie, her hatchmate Joosie, and Jack, lol.

And thank YOU for your help. I feel much better about her now. You can see what I meant about how it was hard to describe her. She's awkward...not disabled...and TINY lol. Having never owned geese it worried me a good bit.

Also, the B Complex won't hurt regardless correct?....might give them all a little boost for a bit.

The brooder was super easy by the way...but I have a table saw lol. It's able to be taken down with 4 screws, and packed away flat in storage until I need it again :D.

Thank you again!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm in love! How sweet they are! Told ya, your place needed some geese!! 😂😂
I'm wondering if maybe Loosie is younger than the others by about a week? Did you get them from a hatchery?

You were 150% right lol!! I've got 3 plus acres of grass feed...and 1.5 of that no one ever mows!

I got them from Metzer a week ago Monday. They'll be two weeks old coming up here shortly!

I really don't think they're different ages. The bigger ones are clearly day old out of the box. She was only slightly smaller...but still much less coordinated even then.

Over the last maybe three days, her coordination has improved substantially. I think having more room to exercise and practice has helped a ton.

Nope give them some BComplex it can’t be over dosed as long as you don’t over do. They will pee out what their body doesn’t need.

I was finally able to get to Tractor Supply today lol. It's a 60 mile round trip. I picked up the B Complex. Going to read over how to dose them again...since I'm going to go ahead and do all three.

Have you started treats yet? If they are getting chick grit you can try chopping romaine lettuce an put the liquid b complex over that. My goose will eat meal worms my gander sticks his nose up at them. Saying it’s much better to dose over treats if they’ll eat them.

Just grass to this point. And the Bermuda hay they still pick out of their pine shaving bedding (apparently it gives them something to do lol).

I can pick up some romaine easy enough!! They've been getting chick grit since about...day 3 I think (5-6 days old). Day 4 is when they first got some grass.
