Hello everyone,

I'm desperately hoping to find some help for my Canada cross gosling. Last week Monday night the two goslings were put to bed perfectly fine, Tuesday morning, Finnegan was completely non weight bearing on his left leg. His entire left leg was swollen and radiating heat and obviously very painful. I treated with meloxicam and tramadol until we got in to see the vet on Thursday. X-rays showed no fractures, but a significant amount of inflammation and the vet was worried that his tendon that runs down the back of his leg and over his hock had luxated...the medical term is perosis and is also frequently called "slipped hock". She said that the prognosis was quite poor and surgery was oftentimes unsuccessful and they end up being euthanized. My husband and I want to do absolutely everything we possibly can before giving up. He's currently on carprofen for the pain and swelling and doxycycline in case of infection. He is in a sling for several hours every day and we are doing cool water pool therapy. Is there anyone that has successfully dealt with this before? We will literally do whatever it takes. He's incredibly dear to us and we can't imagine losing him already.
