So can anyone tell me what the head vibrating thing is all about? I've seen Moose doing it a few times then Moaning Myrtle did it earlier today.

Mine do it when they want to scare something off....like get a chicken out of the way...they go up to it with head and neck shaking and if they´re really brave they´ll charge said chicken and teach it!

Oh dear. What an ordeal. We're they definitely attacking or just being over enthusiastic 'teenagers'? I'm still learning what Moose is telling me and sometimes he seems to be protective of me/Myrtle and other times he is quite rough.
Whatever their motives I would think once the little ones are closer matched in size they will be able to stick up for themselves and if they are opposite sexes, hormones will eventually take over!

I think it was a little of both. Jasper, the gosling that is always in my lap, seemed curious then got aggressive and bit at the babies. But the biggest gosling and the smallest of the older goslings, came over immediately honking and hissing with their heads down low and would not stop going for the babies! At 1 point the biggest gosling even bit me! The gosling with angel wing seemed more interested in eating than attacting unless it got close to the pen grazing, then it too would try to bite and did the head shaking thing. The babies wanted to be with the older goslings and kept trying to squeeze out between the bars of the playpen. It was a very hectic hour, I was worried someone would get past me. Luckily no one did and all are safely in their respective pens.

I Really hope thing get better between them, or I will have a head a grey hair in a week!

The greylag-type geese are pretty laid back about other goslings, though they can get a bit bullyish..maybe nip, maybe 'graze' them, but in general nothing too bad, you just have to keep a little eye on them to make sure. Going by what I hear about Chinese, (as you know I´ve never had any), and what I see of my neighbour´s, I would imagine that maybe their natures aren´t as easy-going. (Feel free to contradict, anyone who has chinese), so maybe you´re going to have more of a battle on your hands. Can you not get some 1/2 or 1" weldmesh so that no-one can hurt anyone else, and in time they will get used to each other. When they´re 4 - 6 months old, you´ll hardly see the difference in them and they should be ok by then.

I feel like an idiot! I have lots of poultry fencing left over from building their home. Don't know why I didn't think of layering some on the playpen. (Guess I been too preoccupied with tilling and planting my moms garden, my nephew's son's birthday today, my being sick, keeping up my garden, and the normal taking care of hubby and kids.)

I have 3 egg in lockdown and two had externally piped yesterday they were due today. But they did nothing at all on chipping the egg. So I took and mad them a hole for them to breather. Did that last night last. They did nothing at all today on the egg so this evening I took out one at a time and took the egg back and they can finish it. They also had membrane stuck to them so I took that off and sprayed the eggs with a warm mist. and put more warm water on the wash clothes to make it more humid in there for them.
The 3rd egg piped just a crack will see what it does overnight...
