Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Just finished cooling 3 different sets of eggs due on much different dates. Next week will be cooling four sets.

My broody girls we had two on one nest and we kicked the two off the nest because it was way past due and one egg had exploded. So my husband took them out one by one and handed them to me they all smelt nasty. So he took them to the woods and cracked each one to see what happened. Some non fertile, some a black grey nasty color and one had a party formed baby that had stopped growing. So nothing from those two this years.

Glenna has 3 eggs in her nest and she keeps sitting on them and when she gets off my white girl one of them goes and sits on the eggs. Then I have a buff girl that has several eggs she has laid and she will get on and off and when she gets off the other white female gets on them. The two white are still broody but are coming out and bathing and eating grass to get back into condition after sitting so long.

I just have to brag a bit...Just hatched my very first gosling ever Tuesday. Set the first two eggs, and one hatched, but the other quit about half way through. So, here is my first Am Buff gosling

I'm also getting worried about the late gosling from before. Still no hatching action, but he does look like he has a lot of blood left to go. He's not stuck either; I checked the membrane and there's no shrink wrapping going on. I sure hope he's okay and not malformed or something :/

Thanks for the welcome.. Sad news to report. The momma of these eggs kinda vanished. Dunno if she flew off or not... Will look more in the morning. Hoping for the best though.

OK everyone I need help. My american buff goose laid her eggs outside next to the house. She built a nest, and has 4 eggs. So far she his not sat on them. What do I do? The weather is rally cold out and I don't have an incubator. Should. Take one of the eggs and crack it to see if its fertile? I'm scared if they are they will die. Please help

Do you lock your goose up at night in a predator proof pen? You can make a nest in the pen and put the eggs in it and show her where they are. She will get the idea.

I have 3 egg in lockdown and two had externally piped yesterday they were due today. But they did nothing at all on chipping the egg. So I took and mad them a hole for them to breather. Did that last night last. They did nothing at all today on the egg so this evening I took out one at a time and took the egg back and they can finish it. They also had membrane stuck to them so I took that off and sprayed the eggs with a warm mist. and put more warm water on the wash clothes to make it more humid in there for them.

Ooh I hate this bit. It's so tense! I hope they're ok sounds like they're in good hands :fl
