Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Has amy one else hatched a two headed gosling?

:love

Why not just keep the two Africans, seeing as they appear to be a pair?

We might, depending on how things fall out with their sexes. But I'd rather not eat one of the babies I raised since they were a day old. And in this case I think Snow was reacting to Jasper's squawk of surprise when I picked Jasper up and was trying to defend him.

I can´t eat mine either. Chickens, that is. I give them to my neighbours who are quite happy to have them for dinner. Few people around here eat geese anyway.
But they´re no age yet, are they? Just babies yet, and he´s already getting protective! Goodness, imagine what he´d be like as an adult!

I have a hard time thinking that was gander behavior Sam didn't start that stuff till he became sexually mature.

I know, it´s strange at such a young age. On the other hand, my neighbour has chinese and they´re real so-and-sos even at a young age. The woman´s own family is frightened of them.
Wow and here i thought I had a holy terror. lol As I see him running with a drake in his mouth. Actually the drake was running with Sam latched on to his tail feathers.

Snow has never shown any hints of aggressive behavior before, I can pick him up and he just stays still. He doesn't cuddle, but don't fight either. Maybe, because I removed 2 of their flock not so long ago, he remembered that and thought I was taking his friend? I can't think like a goose so don't know. I just know they have great memories.

Thank you Iain :-D
I think she has 5 and i saw a little lavender gosling with her so they are coming out

Iain any updates on your eggs (white Africans

Geez... you have a quickly growing amount of goslings! Congrats on a good season! I need to candle my African broody's eggs as they could start hatching in the next couple of days. I slipped a couple whites under her, but most are her own. My other production Toulouse broody is about 3 weeks along and has 2 whites and 3 of her own eggs. Then, my neighbor's kid has 3 whites developing in incubator (for me) on day 15. I was letting my whites build a clutch of eggs, but a skunk (most likely) is raiding their nests and so I have no more eggs to even gather right now. That's about it to report in hatching land.

In the meantime, I've had fun learning about my new pigeon, Chloe. I discovered she is a Taganrog Tumbler, a purebred show pigeon from Russia on the rare breeds list. I found a local Taganrog breeder and talked to him today. I learned that in Utah, people do not appreciate or value show pigeons and likely the original owner is not missing her. I also learned that pigeons (unlike geese/ducks) are perfectly ok being solo, so WHEW that I do not have to own more than one pigeon and worry about my numbers multiplying overnight.

Better than at my place, where I have a holy terror drake who runs certain geese of mine around. I wish the ganders would beat the crap out of him.
