Miss lydia i have no idea actually but it was sick but its recovering :)
But today one of my goslings (1 week old) got attacked by a magpie and theres a hole in the babys neck but luckly it just missed the windpipe and is also recovering but was bleeding badly earlier today so i covered it up and added a bit of honey and cleaned the blood away with warm salted water and now is eatting and drinking again but is just in a bit of a shock :/
(its a horrible sighting seeing a bird trying to grab your gosling by the neck and trying to fly away

Oh serv thank goodness you saw this, Iain Utah J as we call her lost one of her Dewlap goslings to a magpie last year. I hope it continues to heal from the attack poor lil thing.

Hey Serv, my newest gosling is 3/4 African and 1/4 Toulouse. She had a 2nd baby hatching under her as of yesterday evening.

it hatched out ok!

Sorry to hear about the magpie attacking your gosling. Like Lydia said, I had that happen to me last year. It was pretty traumatic.

Speaking of losses, our mystery predator returned and got one of our broody Muscovy ducks yesterday.

We are thinking fox or badger as both have been sighted recently. We are able to lock up our two broody Africans and one of our other scovy ducks, but have to implement operation relocate nest for our other exposed broody Muscovy this morning. We will also be making calls to see if there is an experienced fox trapper in our area to help catch the murdering beast.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. And I hope you catch this killer before it gets anymore of your flock.

Sorry to hear this J, that's so hard to deal with, Your right to lock everyone up, that quote sitting duck comes home to us that have them. So sorry.

and Congrats on the new gosling.

I appreciate the condolences. It is never fun to lose a pet to a predator. And unlike raccoons, which are easy to trap and dispose.... a fox or badger is a much trickier problem to deal with.
