Lol, okay cheater! (Not really, using a turner is cheating but still... lol!)

Well, previously, people would try to alter the chicken egg turners for goose eggs, but it didn't fit. The goose eggs sat too high and touched the heating element. They fit now though with the new housing design.

HOWEVER, I'm still using an old-style 2-year-old LG for my goose eggs right now, and hand-turning them three times a day as well.

ive never had a turner and never used one. It all adds to the excitement and involvement in the whole journey for me. The harder i work for something the more i appreciate the outcome, but thats just me and in no way is that an insult to those who do use one.

Actually I have a brinsea

i also have a really big homemade cooler incubator, so luckily space won't be a problem. I did read the guide, and it was really good info. I guess I'll go ahead and incubate on their sides. It did have info about the misting, but it didn't say whether to do it during cooling or right after, unless I missed that part, and I might have!

I mist when I get all of them pulled out IF it's not a weigh in day then I do it after I'm done. I use the cooling periods for candling and weighing to check the weight loss. I'm hand turning and have two homemade incubators so not sure if that helps. I also mist lightly anytime I have to open the incubators like when I turn the eggs or add water, I dont worry about getting all the eggs when I do that it's just to help bring the humidity back up after opening the door.

Ok good news! I have found 7 eggs in 7 different nests today ! I was suprised since i only filled the nestboxes few days ago . But they are not the eggs im waiting for :/
Im waiting for my african to lay and there is a large white egg in her breeding pen but there is also my 2 female embdens and chinese female crosses in the breeding pen with my buff and brown african ganders so i dont know if its hers if it is i will be delighted

I love this time but love it even more when all my geese have goslings! Im trying to get as much africans this year as possible !
And when my africans have their babies they will rejoin the flock .
Iain why dont you incubate eggs this year?! It will be funnnn

I hatched my buff americans last year from eggs I got on eBay. Now, this spring, the egg laying has started. I am up to half a dozen and getting ready to fire up the bator! Love baby goslings! <3

Serv, I'm taking a break from incubating this year. My neighbor's kid lost his birds over Christmas in a barn fire so I'll be helping him hatch a few babies from my eggs. He will be setting 3 eggs from my buff dewlaps and 3 eggs from my white african girls in the morning.

they are fertile and he has a great hatch.

Besides, between our six muscovy ducks and the geese that go broody, I will not be surprised if they hatch more than a few babies before the end of season.
