Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

I do find it fascinating that I could set two eggs at the same time and have one hatch a full week later than the other. Not something you see with chickens!

Unless you set them a week apart. I'm always putting eggs in the incubator, and thus always hatching them out. Almost every single day. But hatching a week apart when they were DUE on the same day is different.

I have three incubators as well, and I'm trying to encourage chickens to go broody, too!

I love Halloween. I tried to get his coloring matching white to brown Africans and wound up with brown/white splash. This year, I paired my white gander with a brown/white splash goose. I am told to expect 50/50 white and brown/white splash, but it would be great to get the beautiful blue coloring instead.

Tonight im tossing my non fertile eggs from the bator since its day 10. Also thinking of slipping more eggs in in their place...what do you all think? They will be 10 days apart.

8 the staggering of eggs I have been doing because the geese had started laying again. So I have ben collecting eggs 3 or more at a time and putting them in the dry incubator... Then my husband will find an egg on the lawn and brings it to me single and I put it in the towel I have in the sink to cool eggs with. Let it sit overnight and then put it in the incubator...

So I am right now cooling 3 different batches of eggs going on 4 soon.

My new gosling is a super talk-a-rive gosling. I sure hope the other one hurries up and gets to finishing piping. I am sitting on my hands to keep them out of the incubator. The only time I opened it was to take baby out an re soak the wash cloths for humidity.

Oh, well I don´t know, then.  Sounds  more like she had glue on her!  But she´ll be fine when her new feathers start to come through.  Been a bit busy for you there, then!

The winds yesterday were very bad. As I said my roses broke and my parents power pole nearly came down on her storage building! We successfully took it down without damaging anything today, Yay! Not everyone was as lucky though, did see downed trees and power poles at other places. We were very very lucky it did so little damage.

The gosling, who has been named Cream (her sister is Peaches, both are now my sons pets and they named them) is doing well. Very curious and sweet. I had them out today since it was 87 with a gentle breeze. Got a few pics, I'll try and upload them later. They are so darling! Already Cream crawls in my lap, just like my big boy Jasper does. My older goslings also had some fun today, I let them out and started weeding my strawberry patch and boy did they love that! They thought it was a great treat, lol. I have to weed more of my garden, and we are tilling at my parents so I think I'll take the big guys with me.

I didnt put any eggs in after i tossed my duds...i was afraid with my luck they would mess up the ones already in there. I have done it before i just didnt want to chance it this time. So i may bust out the other bator.
