Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Think I am going to be coming out of my ears with goslings soon...

Now what?

I have an African pair of day olds coming on or around the 28, which should be my hatch date of my first dozen chicks (which after candling tonight I see 10 are on their way so far...)

But then, I have been asked to "toss" a couple of African eggs into the incubator, and now my husband wants to see what will become of our own African/Chinese pair... Really? Because two mean loud mouths aren't enough?

What a shame I have to love them so darn much. I swear, it's an illness.

Is there like a GA support group somewhere? ;)

Thankful that I got my first batch to hatch in spite of my incubator jumping all over the place. I managed to still get 5 Shetland Geese to hatch, but lost one , found it  dead in  brooder 2nd day, it seemed to not be thriving. I also managed to  hatch one live African so far out of my yearling females. I have  6 eggs in lockdown also and  another batch in other incubator. And to  top it off I have 2 females trying to  set on same nest...they are 2yr olds. so we shall see. Their nest is in a goose shed with ventilation and  on a mat, with straw....so I am adding  fresh grass to try and help with  humidity...be their first hatch. I  have 3 pairs, although one  male is just a yearling  and I had to  move him from the older 2 gandars about a month ago because they were  attacking him too much...
These are from Holderreads and it  took me 3 years to get these 6  , (lost 4 others at different stages). The population is  small so if they make it and thrive it's good. The  Super Africans I  got for fun, but showed and won with a female which I sold, but have her 2 daughters, so I have a trio. Someone said I  should breed some because they are hard to find in the SE...so  I am breeding a few to see what I get, to sell and  show.  He  sells from his show line only.... I did have another African hatch but  didn't  survive, he was upside down and I had to help him  pull out of the shell half, yolk all absorbed I  just found him stuck with his bottom half out, flailing ...so perhaps he lacked oxygen too long....
Now if I can figure out again how to  post pics or maybe from my Iphone that would be great!:weee

What in Heaven's name do you do with all of your geese?

Showing... Wonder if I should try it?

My neighbors hate me. I only have 2. And really, they are only pests at feeding time, or when strangers are here, but, still.

I am seeing more in my future, and don't know how easy it will be to re home them in my area. LOL!

Man, I was going to try Trumpeters for my girlfriend, but, once I have a house full of Africans, I don't know if Swans will keep, if she changes her mind.

Forgot my pic. :p

That looks like a gosling some chicken chics and a couple of quail. My little gosling is trying to unzip now. I am not at all sure what kind it will be. My neighbor from down the street gave me three goose eggs and said put them in them in the incubator. Two of them developed to term. I will post a pic or two once they both hatch.
Your pic sure is cute. I will be putting my goslings in the brooder with my
silkie/americauna mixes and dominiques. They hatched last week end. Its been a good hatching season. Good lick with
your little ones.

Hey guys, any advice what to do here? This is the late gosling and what I found when I went in today to see what was up. Yes, the remaining yolk is a nasty green color, and yes, it has an awful smell. Advice? Under a spoiler because it's not a pretty picture.

Tell me ,is it dry?! And did you pull it out?! (Dont pull it out of the egg)

Yep there is.
I always start out by saying "Hi My Name is 8, and im addicted to Geese" then everyone says HI 8!!! Then i proceed to tell them that ive been using for 3 yrs now lol

Yay! 8! At least I know that I am not the only crazy goose lady. Well they call me the crazy bird lady, cuz I have chickens too, that ride on my shoulder, take food out of my hand, follow me to the car if I am going to work, come when they are called, fight the cats for space on my lap. Yeah, it's a hard knock life over at the crazy lady farm...
