Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

Well season has been a boom so far with selling. I sold my last two goslings yesterday along with Rain my last pied chinese i had kept from last year. Im down to 14 adults and 3 goslings, the lavender and the two paints.
Maggie is due to hatch in 2 days, im expecting pure tufted roman and/or tufted toulouse from her hatch.
Ethel is due to hatch next week May 25th hers are also pure Tufted roman and/or tufted toulouse, unless someone used her nest when she wasnt looking.
Then Mildred, my last hatch on June 2nd. Im not expecting many from her nest due to the fact that Rain and Hail kept sneaking into the coop and stealing her eggs which i would put back. Main reason why i sold Rain. If any hatch these will be all chinese, white, brown and pied. Shared nest.
I plan to pick out some from all nests to keep.
Wow! You´ve been busy. And still more to come, hopefully!

So I had a good hatch! Bonnie and Clyde are two Pilgim's born 4/29/2013 and they came from Metzer farms.
My intention was to keep one girl and sell the rest, so I put an ad in Crais
Gas list and got four replies.
One wanted 2girls and a boy. Check:weee
One wanted two girls (and requested they stay with mom until pickup) check.:gig
One wanted one boy one girl. Check :yesss:
The last wanted fertile eggs, no go. Next year? Yes.

Bonnie had a total of 10 under her, and one was under a chicken. So 11 were being "cooked".
The one under the chicken I thought was too old anyway, and that one looked like scrambled eggs inside.
Of the other 10 under Bonnie, all of them hatched, and only one died, it was fully formed but I think it got squashed while trying to hatch, because it's abdomen didn't look fully cooked. I pulled it out of he nest and tossed it a ways away.....and we held three girls outside for a bit, trying to avoid Clyde's beak. Bonnie just watched us, and stayed close. After about 15 minutes all three were on the ground with me showing them the. Water puddle I made since they can't hop into the baby pool yet. Mama saw this and started to drink a bit from the puddle too, very cute.
Then, she really surprised me. She waddled over to when I had tossed the dead one, and examined it. How she knew I can't guess. They both examined it, then left. It was sad.

So we had a 90% turn out for goslings! with only two males! which is what I wanted!
Turns out I will have two geese plus mom and dad....and my Sebbies. :highfive:

That is awesome! I have a trio of American buffs. One hatched 8 out of 8. I have 5 in the incubator and they seem to be doing great. The second female is on 7 eggs I think. I hope she hatches a few. I plan to sell the five I hatch as long as the hatch!

Where's the pics?

the oldest 2 groups of Dewlaps, they haven't been adopted yet and go in the shed on their own.

the older ones are starting to feather

Beautiful pics I just love those babies. Do you let any of you geese sit and hatch their own?

No I dont. I let one do it my first year and the gander went WAY over board and I dont want to risk a repeat. I do let them adopt babies. Just neither group has decided to take the older ones. I like to let them get to at least 2 weeks before I give them to the adults. I've set my last set of eggs so I'll start pushing adoption.
