Goslings of 2015 Hatch-a-Long

It confusing but the big Sebastopol looking one is a male and female is the one franki said because they are always mating as for the other three not sure the ones in the first pic were born on December the 10th and the others were 14th of September if that helps would like to know so that I can get ready for breeding season

It sure can be confusing, with our 2 youngest most everyone thought female for both but when mating season got here we found out gander and female. You may just have to wait also unless your already seeing subtle signs like the head held high and one acting more aggressive towards you like in protecting it's mate.

Yeah well in the start of winter now since I'm from Australia so breeding season is around the corner so hopefully something happens
Yep you are so i think in the next month or 2 you'll begin to see ganders attitudes change and breeding will begin in earnest. we just finished up and I have to say Thank the Lord. It was a long 5 months. lol

Hi some of them are mating but the two Sebastopol geese fight all the time so it makes me think that they are ganders but the bigger Sebastopol Mr Hiss mates with the white females Flipper so yeah it is confusing

Just wanted to update my goslings. My three adult Toulouse hatched out 8 goslings on April 19-20 and now it is hard to tell which are adults and which are babies...except there is still a lot of peeping going on...that and some feeble attempts at honking and hissing...think there are some ganders in there?

In the 2nd pic those 3 with their necks stretched out might be. good chance. They sure are big.

I am pretty sure that there are 3 ganders plus Sting (the father) so that would be 4 ganders and 7 females which will be just fine. I think I can manage that without getting eaten alive. The ones I am pretty sure are female are already beginning to develop lobes on their belly which I am taking as a sign. They play together all the time but they are at that age where some of them will wander off away from the others. Sting will give a honk and everyone comes running together so they are a gaggle for sure. Now and then they will all take off running across the field with their wings out. Wish I could get them to do that on cue so I could get a picture but they are not the most cooperative bunch.
