It was back at some time over night or this morning. I had pushed all the sand back and smoothed it out.

Pick up those sand bags and put down some anti-dig mesh apron...
....if it can't get in it'll look else where.
Did it try to dig in anywhere else?

Good examples of apron installation, tho I'd not recommend 1/2" HC...go with 14ga 1x2 or 1x1, will hold up much longer and is easier to lay flat.

Your in for a fight. Red will continue to "look" even if you make it fox proof. However, foxie will continue to look for a spot to gain access. They are relentless.

No, it has only tried to dig the sand bag. The ground is pretty damn hard around the run and very rooty too. Which is why I didn’t bury any hardware cloth in the first place. Not saying the fox can’t work hard enough to dig a small hole under, but he can get through the locked door at night anyway.

If I've offended you,I'm sorry, being an animal activist gives me no right to tell anyone what they should or should not do... I'm truly sorry.

i am so happy to read your post! I also allow everyone the right to defend their flocks the way they feel suits them. For me, an animal rights supporter, it is hard to have harsh feelings towards beings that enter my yard.
I always wanted opossums, squirrels, and kittens to come into my yard...but my dog killed them all. i was sad. for 7 years, no animals came. then, i got chickens, they all came back (of course)...and now i don't want them to hurt my babies. I do find myself questioning how far will i go to protect my pets.
i find, for me, it is best for me to create a coop that is safe with a dog that WILL protect the chickens. I check the coop daily. But I do live in a city and raise chickens as pets. I understand that others have different needs and beliefs than I do.
I appreciate the community posts that allow me to protect my chicks as well as follow my philosophy.
In the end, we all love our chickens and that's what makes us a great community!

Well I don’t have to worry about it at night because my coop has a automatic / locking door. So I just have to worry about a day time attack.
i;ve found that foxes don't come around my neck of the woods during the day much, unless it;s raining or overcast.. so rainy, dull days, my girls are always penned up.. they free range when i'm home and outside a lot.. they'v been a big problem for me too.. good luck

I used an electric call also played call off sons
I phone Fox came running right across yard.one down a week lmao water the magazine to the call also
