I hatched a baby chick out of my olive egger hen & BLRW Roo to see what I would get . Both parents have clean legs but the baby has feathered legs !! Why would this be ? Here is a pic of the baby! The mama hen is a buff color

That's what I thought when it hatched but the feathers are growing !!!! It's about three days old in the pic.

I guess maybe my hen then , my Roo is pure& show stock, don't know anything about her history though thanks

Yeah, Easter Eggers are various mixes so I guess somewhere in her lineage there was a feathered legged chicken.

It's that crazy toss of the genes when you have mixes on one side...you just never know what might pop up.

My guess would be your OE hen was created by using a Marans(feathered legs) Your hen didn't get the feathers but carries the gene. JMO.
