I'm sure she meant "affectionate." Come on, people. Are we trying to be kind and inclusive to keep kids on our forum, or be critical and drive them away? Cut it out.
You may be unaware of his behavior/posts previously (many have been deleted), believe me the harsh responses were not unprovoked.

Unfortunately, I've learned that doesn't matter.

Wash it if you want, OP.

I don't wash or otherwise take care of my wounds, and I'm still standing.

I think it’s a bit disrespectful to call people’s beloved chickens, “just chickens”. Lots of us place a higher value on our birds and love them as much as any other pet.
And lots of us place higher value on human life than on chicken life. You'll have to excuse us for that

Unless intending to breed and there is some reason for this particular cockerel to be the daddy...go with a nice homemade stuffing, a hearty salad and some fresh sweet corn on the grill for your sides.

You'll need to be very aware of him from this point on. He will fly up to your face and try to spur you. Or come at you from behind. You'll want to carry a stick, or broom handle in with you to keep him at bay (if you plan on keeping him). Mine went to freezer camp.
Very true! I had a friend in this situation a few weeks back. I really like my one cockerel from the get go but he became a liability to my safety after I had to pull rank on him being far to hormonal and agressive with the pullets. If it came to carrying a weapon for protection, there would be no use for that bird, favorite or not. He is now resting in my fridge.

Who's had a cockerel, or rooster bite?
Have a good look at the picture in post 16.
That doesn't look like a rooster bite to me.
To bite, a rooster has to open his beak. When I've been bitten, and I've been bitten a few times over the years, by roosters and hens, I get two incisions, one from upper and lower beak respectively.
What's more, the times I've been bitten bar one have all been provoked by my behavior.
