Got bite by my cockerel

Who's had a cockerel, or rooster bite?
Have a good look at the picture in post 16.
That doesn't look like a rooster bite to me.
To bite, a rooster has to open his beak. When I've been bitten, and I've been bitten a few times over the years, by roosters and hens, I get two incisions, one from upper and lower beak respectively.
What's more, the times I've been bitten bar one have all been provoked by my behavior.
I have no issues with killing chickens and eating them but the masses run around gloating about it when the roosters actions toward them were usually their own fault. You’ll never make people understand. Just watch the show.

You're right and why I always give a second chance.
A second chance is fair. Beyond that he signs his death warrant. Mine (the one resting in the fridge) bit me once. He got a second chance since he bit me while I was chasing him to take him to quarantine for his awful behavior with the pullets. Otherwise he was not really human hateful. He broke the skin, knew he was wrong, hunkered down and I picked him up. Never did it again. But his behavior with the girls and then the cock I intended to keep, became so bad it was not worth his being around.

Finally someone with common sense!
If you really feel no one here has common sense, perhaps you are asking the wrong group of people for advice? We all speak from our experiences or knowledge and in a public chat forum, if you are asking a question, you are bound to get answers you do not like. I have learned that even if I do not like or agree with the majority...which clearly you do not, and that is ok...it is still likely that the majority is right. As a majority is a majority for a reason. Here it is through personal experiences.

Not trying to be ornery here. Just clarifying why the responses are as they are.

I think it’s a bit disrespectful to call people’s beloved chickens, “just chickens”. Lots of us place a higher value on our birds and love them as much as any other pet.
This is true. And I agree that it is a bit disrespectful, a very brash comment. That said, if my beloved dog or cat bit me, he/she would get another chance. Once more, it is hitting the road...shelter (informing them of behavior) or euthanized. Love or not, I won't be a target.
