Got my Great Pyrenees today!

Finn actually sleeps in my Walkout basement with my other Two Dogs. Bindi and Wilson. He is out when I free range. He never wonders far from the House or Coops.

Good to know since I don’t plan to let my birds free range full time.

I never free range full time..Only when the Dogs are out and when I'm in and out during the day..I have a Fox problem..

I’m only comfortable free ranging (They forage in my fenced in backyard so I don’t think it’s technically free ranging, I have neighbors who free range their chickens and they’ve lost 8 chickens in the past 2 years to foxes) my chickens when someone is at home and able to check on them or if I’m outside with them. I have a pair of red tail hawks in my town as well as foxes. Haven’t seen raccoons or opossums in a while but I used to see them often years ago.

5 acres isn't much for Pyrenees.
Do you have a perimeter fencing to keep them home?
Do you plan on having other livestock?
Do you know they can bark incessantly all night long?

5 acres isn't much for Pyrenees.

I have 7 acres and 3 Big Dogs..Barking can be an issue although mine never wander off.

Your dogs are house dogs, they don't live outside 24/7/365?

Hmmm? My Maremma has never left. My Dogs are far from house Dogs. My Basement has a area for them to sleep. They are out most of the day..No different than a Dog House except it's my Basement.

Maremma wander less(more likely to stay home)...and they bark less.....than Pyrenees.
