Got our ducklings!

We've been letting them out of the pen for 'free-range' practice, usually less than an hour. They stay close, we have to go to the big pool with them or they won't go today we all went inside to see what they'd do.

Very sweet pics! looks like they are very comfortable with the kids.

Whats funny is their 'attitude'. If you pay attention to them, they get skittish. If you ignore them - they want your attention! They were in the pool and the two granddaughters were playing close by. They all piled out of the pool and went over to check out the girls. Did that several times until the youngest granddaughter went to the pool with them. They will follow us all over the yard but won't venture far without someone close by.

kids....

Well, they are getting braver every day. They basically free range most of the day, we put them in the pen when no one is home and in their cage (don't tell them that, we call it their bed) at nite.

They wander about half the yard but still want company when it's available.

We went out back this evening and found them playing with the little girl next door. I tried to sneak around the corner for a pic, caught them just after they caught me.

About half the time when we go back inside they come to the back door, I think this is their version of 'puppy-dog eyes'; wanting us to come back out!

5 1/2 weeks old, almost fully feathered. Gonna start on their tractor this weekend.
