Got the first use out of my dash cam.

Not sue its real lingo but the term I have heard an used.

It means laying on the floor an sucking air threw the carpet an floorboards to breath the clean air under a burning house. We got the money to get SCBA breathing equipment over the years. We had some then but not alot. Unfortunately a large part of the volunteer foremen in the US are still sucking carpet.

My dd goes to the firefighters station or firemen going to her school to teach fire safety. She would talk about "drop, roll" method if you do get caught on fire. Yep, that's right!

She said she needs a ladder to get out of her bedroom window. What for? I asked. Because in case of a fire! Well your window is on the first floor, no need to have a ladder.

She insisted to have a ladder. She got frustrated and cried "Those ghosts won't have a way to get out of the fire!"

She was deadpan serious!

I told her to tie her bedsheet on the frame and throw the remaining bedsheet out of the window and tell the ghosts to climb out of that one!

Yes, we do have paranormal ghosts in our house..I only saw one but dd saw two, a man and young boy. Nothing in our property deeds and court records indicate anything of cemetaries, death or one's dying in the home. Not harmful or mean, just friendly passing by ghosts.

No, no one was home.

I try to stay out of politics but here is my understanding of fire investigation in Ga.

Ga has a state fire investigator but I have only seen them a few times. Almost every time was when someone died.

Years ago when I started with the FD as a 16 year old there was a county fire investigator. I only remember meeting him once. I was coming out of a burning house to get some air. We were "carpet suckers" back then. Anyway a car had pulled in the driveway an a man was getting out. I used his hood for a seat. Ha came over to me, wrote something down an said "glad I got here to see this, this one smells electrical to me." (May not be word for word but something like that.) Then he left. I later found out he was the fire investigator an was well known as "Smells Electrical." If I ever heard his real name I do not remember it. This explained some things for me. A few years before, 3 homes on family property were burned by someone but the report on all said electrical even though one had no power at all.

The state guys we have now are smart an I enjoy watching them work but they are coming 3 hours from Atlanta I think an there is some kind of rules as to when they actually come out.
Glad everyone was ok!

That is an awesome camera set up though... may look into them myself! (on sale for 299!)

Smells Electrical... smells like an arsonist to me! Shows up at the fire, before you even get it out and has some "history" with how he calls a fire.... yeah I'd be calling for an investigation on his techniques!

I cannot believe this has happened AGAIN to us, I was waiting for my hubbies birthday but I am ordering this now! Lady hits my husbands parked car last month while he's in it reading, she denies being there, hired an investigator to say my husband was lying, even though he took her picture showing her car next to his with license plates, her walking away, and the dent on our car. But because she hired a big wig attorney and investigator our insurance company won't pursue it

stating it was not worth the hassle and we could claim it on our insurance if we wanted to get our car fixed. This is the third accident in 6 months after never having any in the 20 years prior, we are going to get one for my car as well. SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW!

Man, that sucks. Not a surprise though. I have been to thousands of crashes an I am always surprised when people tell the truth.I was at one the other day when they guy flat told the trooper that it was his fault. That is what should be normal. If I could afford it everyone I know would have a dash camera.

Heres a video I got the other night with mine.

If this was a car crash, what in the hell did he cause that infereno?

Do you have flashers? I remember a guy here in Decatur got arrested for using his flashers but thought he was allowed in route to the fire department but he wasn't. He was trying to get in a hurry to get across town without any emergencies. I do not know how the city cops would determine if he was speeding or just getting to the fire department. Do all police, fire department and power companies are on the same band radio?

The videos are of house fires. I have a few of crashes but they are full of stuff that should not be seen by the public.

It is general practice to use the cars emergency flashers when responding to a call. My first few years as a firemen I did that. The last 10 years I had actual red lights ether on the dash or on the roof. I took them off when I stopped working for the fire department a few years ago.(I still go help) Use of any add on emergency lights requires a permit sticker in most states. Factory emergency lights are usually freely used but give no real authority or right to break laws.

The power company here uses cell phones but the fire an cops use radios. They are on different channels but have each others channel. It is for listening though, talking on the others channel outside of an emergency is bad form.
