grandson out of icu update 1/30

Thanks for all the prayers. Ayden will be 4 months old on feb. 8th. He is doing good. they are weaning him off sedation meds. and yesterday he smiled at momma. they are putting a larger trach tube or a cuffed trach intoday because he is leaking air. they tried a trach collar yesterday but he was leaking too much air and breathing too hard. he will probably be here another two weeks because of the trach incident last friday. all of the staff have fallen in love with him. and his doctor from upstairs comes and sees him even though he is nolonger treating him. stii havent seen the nurse that let his trach come out. not sure what they did to her.

this experience has made my daugvhter want to go back to coLlage to be a neonatal nurse or a pediatric nurse. she knows she will have to wait until ayden is better.

Prayers sent to our loving Father.

Praying for your grandson and your family! My sister is a pediatric nurse at a specialized children's hospital. There are a lot of success stories out there! She's had trached kids for up to 3 years, and then sees them when they're older, and some of them are doing great!

They will try to remove scar tissue in a couple of months and then reomove the trach. but it may be a few years cause the may have to reconstruct his trachea with cartlige from a rib. but we wont know that for awhile. it depends on Ayden.
This morning he was trying to talk to his momma but nothing came out. he just started cooing a couple of days before his surgery. luckily DD got it on video. it makes her cry to watch it. we cant hear him cry which also makes us sad. but we are so happy that he is still with us and is alert when he is awake. he id definatly a miracle and a blessing. God must have something special in mind for him.
