Granny's gone and done it again

I haven't seen a store that sells puppies or dogs in over 30 years. Maybe it's this part of the state... people more than happy to turn others in (a good thing in this case). Even craig's list, listings selling dogs are flagged right away.
I dont think she is talking about the pet stores as much as the back yard breeders. Puppy mills are everywhere I bet. No one knew them amish had all them dogs hid away . feet never touching anything but wire in the chicken cages they were forced to live in. There are good and bad everywhere you go. Maybe being in the good hoods maybe you dont actually see what goes on.

There was a place that ended up closing that sold toy pups near my work. They had picketers every day. Sometimes the picketers were cardboard cutouts but...lol.

There’s also a pet store in the mall near me. That’s where my neighbor got their new pup. “Oh but it’s from a reputable breeder” yeah sure neighbs. Guaranteed you couldn’t get a dog from a reputable breeder if your life depended on it with your horde now.

Another big thing seems to be getting dogs from Mexico. Makes me wonder how that works since I know coming from Canada you couldn’t bring young pups across the border - needed full rabies vaccine - yet there’s a couple at the desert right meow that have a cutie Belgian malenois they say they got from Mexico.

(Those are gorgeous, intelligent dogs but the cost of one from a good breeder due to the amount of testing and stuff they’d need against genetic defects...)
