Do you give them extra calcium Pert ? I hear they need more protein when they do that but if they get some extra calcium maybe the shells will be too hard for them to crack?

I misunderstood the question. He took a really big knife and used arm power to push it through. It would of took forever so I swapped him jobs. Wish I had thought of the gloves though.

Yes, it's scary. So far, I have not heard of any more sick birds up here, just that one rooster. wonder what it takes for them to declare the breakout over. It started last year.

Only thing I seen at the swap was a chocolate orph,roo . He was huge. TSC had X marks the spot and french wheaten marans. Nothing appealed to me.
I did pick up 2 squash. They are little. Tommorow maybe.

And i got all the cages out of the truck. Birds put away. I put the Cochins in an empty quail cage for now, put in a perch for them. Best spot i have to isolate for a month.

Went and watered and fed friends chickens. Came home changed shoes and now am hanging with my cluckers. Hubs is working on stuff. I should go do stuff but I’m feeling horribly unambitious. I should go do some more work in the front bed but I don’t want to do too much until I have plants to replace the empty spots. Thinking a small lantana for the middle. Maybe some African daisies on the other spots. They’re pretty and hardy! Or maybe I’ll just dig up my loonie lavender (got it from the discount shelf at Home Depot. It’s not fragrant at all sigh) and plop it in the middle. Replace stuff outside the actual bed with actual lavender or roses or something. Lavender is hardier than roses...

Love lantana! So do the birds and bees.

Been cleaning coops today! 2/3 done. Got the older chicks moved outside and split the EEs from the bantams. That evil one stepped on my partridge Cochin it’s eyes are closed it won’t make it. That makes 3/6 of the Cochins gone.

Sorry Alley. Why are the Cochins so fragile? Are the stompers that much bigger?

I thought chickens didnt have taste buds at least for hot stuff? I think thats why the say put it in your bird feeders to keep the squirrels out ? Maybe I have it backwards.
