Just like everything, there's good and bad. Moderation is the key. Lot of people are going gluten free (ie grain free) so they want that for their dogs too, thinking it is healthier for them. Apparently for some dogs, grain free is a death sentence. Purina has been around for a long time, successfully feeding animals of all kinds, including zoo animals. They now have added some lines of grain free kibble... trying to get some of the billions of $$ we spend on our pets every year.

I will say Belle got Costco (Kirkland) brand grain free food her whole life because of skin allergies. She did not die of heart problems.

Why do people want grain free ?

It is a fad. A lot of super cheap foods are all corn or some other cheap grain. This was the new boutique foods being grain free. Problem is the peas and legumes they used wonk up the protein.

thanks ladies. I always wondered.
I havent taken their food yet but they have ate for the day and they wont get any tomorrow am. I will let them have water because I just cant the thought of them going half the day w/o any. If they barf in the van I am going to be 10 different kinds of upset.

No big deal if they barf up water, but I would pick that up too, about 20-30 mins before you leave... gives it time to leave the stomach.

I dont know why people would go grain free either. We were made to eat them. Aint corn a grain? I still munch down on a good cob of corn. Even w/ no teeth. Might look funny but it sure tastes good.
