Granny's gone and done it again

I do, like Marie Callendar's, more like cake, high, sweet and fluffy ... but what am I saying? Snap out of it! DH likes it short, not sweet, and crispy. Dry and crunchy to my taste. That's the recipe I'm looking for. SOUTH'N corn bread!
buttermilk instead of sweet milk and the batter kinda thick.

Sounds lovely but that won't do either. I want to pull it out of the oven just as dinner's ready.
nothing stopping you. I used to buy potato salad and put it in a bowl and hide the container . hahahaa

he had dirt in his nose.
Trying to get them off maybe.
The birds reach a point and go down hill really fast. If he was too weak to stand, he may have been pushing himself along the ground... in the dirt. I've had more mite experience than I want to think about. :(
Cap may have caught him just in time.

Blue, My mom, dad and GM and myself always used the same iron skillet for cornbread and we didnt use it for anything else. If its cured right you dont even wash it. Just wipping it out is good. The secret to cornbread is in the skillet you use. Make sure your oven is hot and heat up the skillet w/ whatever oil you want. I use bacon grease.
Yup, I did that. The batter was too thick. I use veg oil.
