Granny's gone and done it again

I wanted to ask you about seioc please, they want me to do the weatherization thing it seems very badly and require the title to my house. This makes me nervous. tax papers , nothing else will do. I told them you dont get title til its paid for.. Why do they want it so bad ?

They have to prove ownership (and I know that the other document you suggested *should* do it) - because that is one of the requirements of the program being able to expend the funds on the house. I would suggest you call up to IHCDA (the state agency that oversees the Energy Assistance and Weatherization programs in Indiana) - they can better explain why it's necessary and offer any assurances you might want about providing it. I can tell you that in the years I worked at OVO with the EAP/WX programs requesting those documents was standard procedure for the weatherizing and they are secured, protected and used just like any of the other documents (income, bills, etc) with no outside use of them or access to them by anyone outside the program staff directly involved in the admin side of it, but I do understand being concerned. The other advantage of contacting IHCDA is they can tell you if there are other ways to document what the title would show to their satisfaction *and* that would over-ride the agency staff, it may just be a matter of miscommunication/misunderstanding or poor explaining by SEIOC.

so they wont come back in a few yrs. wanting the house or go to sell it saying they have a vested interest in it? you know welfare does that. If you need help burying someone they help with cremation but if you sell the house they want their money back. Not saying it shouldnt be paid back but Tom sold his house to his DD and she went to transfer title and couldnt.
