Granny's gone and done it again

Aggravated need to vent...ready?

I called the place (a medical supply store..since our local regular pharmacies no longer carry crutches) before driving all the way to it, to make sure they had the correct size.
They said yes!
So after I get there and wait a good 30 minutes they said that No they didn't have any left in stock!
What a pita!

Long story short ...my little one was involved in a 4 wheeler accident and now needs help walking!    One mad momma here!
Totally avoidable accident ..which would NOT have happened if I was there! :he

So...I will be carrying around my midget again for another day!

Btw..the scout party was a hit...I got a few offers to decorate for a kid bday party and the church director wants me to do the decorations for one of their events.
(I'm not even a good decorator! lol)

Hope your wee one heals up quick!!

While waiting in the hospital room for a good three hours we figured out the screen thing hanging from the wall was a tv...(duh!)
I was watching a Dr. Jeff show....some kind of animal doctor.
On this particular episode he was in Colorado on a far putting magnets down the throats of yaks...
I was thinking bout you Twist...
did you do that/have it done...
I missed the beginning of the show, so I didn't get to hear why he was doing it but it was a pretty cool show...almost makes me want to get cable!
LOVE Dr Jeff -- his clinic is awesome as it really works with people as far as payment *and* they require spay/neuter as part of the discounted services - he's the kind of vet I have always looked for whenever we've moved anywhere, not just because of the rates thing but because he's one of those "good all around vets" that takes a no nonsense approach to things.

SO sorry about your little --

for both of yoU!!!
I caught something about putting magnets in their stomach prevents something...put don't know what or Im wondering if they poop them out?

Ima have to google it...when I get a few minutes...
The magnets stay in the first stomach (they have 4) and catches any/all metal swallowed so that they don't go into the rest of the digestive tract doing damage. Once placed they are there for good.

Hey Rural king is the same way... have to buy 6 so I bought 10

my logic was if any died I'd still have enough. NONE DIED!! I actually had to sell 4 pullets!
LOL - BTDT, I always over order/over buy figuring I'll have some losses or end up with "oops" cockerels......worst case scenario you do just what you did and sell the extras -- depending on what they are and how far you take them you can sell the extras and make back pretty much everything you spent buyin the chicks and raising them to whatever point you are selling them at - plus it allows for picking the nicest marked bird, the friendliest one, etc of whatever breeds you're getting. This is why for my flock of 6 I'll be starting at least 12.

Hey - glad to see you pop your head in here -- WELCOME!

@RodNTN Sorry I missed you earlier.
I just ate a piece of a $15.00 chocolate cake. LOL Of course it expires today and I only paid 4 something for it . It was ok, prefer homemade. Picked up the gravel for my fishtank. Still have to rinse it . Moving slow..

LOVE the clearance cakes -- when we were working the Scottsburg office in winter we'd get goodies now and then from the Jay-C store there -- if they were close on expiration and they didn't think they'd get them sold in time they'd bring them over to us (we were in the HS center) and the clearinghouse (food pantry) next door -- fell in love with their "whipped topping" iced cakes - for some reason that store was better than the JayC in North Vernon or the Kroger in Madison, same company but the cakes were WAY better in Scottsburg.

Ah, the joys of travel -- DD and FSIL didn't even make it out of Cincinnati before they hit the first delay - ended up being delayed so much that they'll miss the connection in Salt Lake -- airline already re-booked them, but now they won't get in until almost midnight -- no big deal, but will make for a very long night since the airport is a good hour from here.

Hi Granny. When we were milking Holsteins, we had a few cows get hardware disease, but we always caught it soon enough to call our vet and have him put a magnet in them. They can die very quickly if the piece of metal they swallowed punctures the heart, or slowly from an infection if it punctures the lungs or other organs, depending on where it lands in the first stomach. It's fairly commen, depending on where they're pastured and where their hay comes from, but in all my life of being around literally thousands of cattle I can count on one hand how many times a cow needed a magnet. It's definitely not standard practice to give every cow or bull a magnet.

And also, if anyone wants, shoot me a PM and I can give you my email address, that way you can talk to me if I haven't been on BYC in a long time. I always have time to respond to emails, just not get on BYC everyday. :)

Oh man. A couple years ago when we were headed to Chicago form England, our plane got delayed an hour or so, so when we got to the Chicago airport we were sprinting to make our next plane.
