Granny's gone and done it again

Cut out potatoes, bread, all bad carbs. Lots of fruit and veggies. Sugar free pudding for my sweet tooth. Now I am surprised as too how little I have to eat to feel full.
Chick, I eat this way already and have for years, decades. I eat tiny portions and feel full after only a few bites. I don't eat sugar and don't crave sweets. I don't eat from stress or boredom. I have to remind myself to eat. I mentioned I have metabolic disorders. Do you know what gastroparesis is? It takes forever for my food to digest. I also have fatty liver. I just don't metabolize properly. I'm hoping the Ozempic will help.

When we get moles..once in a great while, we tried everything that was suggested. Then I thought of something. They wouldn't want to hang around where predators are. I have dogs. 😁 Dogs make poo. 💩 I put some of it at each hole. Wala! Problem solved. They moved out. 😄 If you have a dog..or cat..and you want to get rid of the snake, give this a try.
Cynthia, this is brilliant! I'm going to "mark" the hole going under the corner of my hen house. I don't know who or what has set up residence under there, I suspect a young raccoon, armadillo or opossum, but hopefully your remedy will work! Fortunately I have a never-ending supply of the "repellent!" :lau
Food is our friend when stressed. Right? I know this problem. 🫤
I guess I don't get stressed .... 🤔 or if I do, I just holler at the offending party until they're stressed, then I feel better! :gig

Thanks for the warm welcome!
We had a weird night with this Debby ramping up. Thankfully she's not a big un and we're pretty central.
My nerves were a little hightened because we're in an RV (long story) on a farm and the chickens coop is a temporary make-do thing with more hardware cloth than structural support. But we haven't blown away to Kansas and the chickens are all fine :p
Last night my mom decided she needed milk. Just as the heavy rain bands started. So I went off to publix absolutely saturated from the blowing stuff to shop and get hurricane snacks with a bunch of other wet people who seemed not to care. Florida is weird sometimes.

Apparently she will be hanging over us like this for most of the day. Good thing we're on high ground!

Crap, hope my kids and grandkids stay safe!
I've got cousins who are being pounded with rain now that are well experienced with hurricane weather and grand kids who know the drill. Great grand kids are being indoctrinated now. At least it is not a major category coming ashore.

Yep, familiar with gastroparesis and with fatty liver. I have the NAFLD the non alcoholic variety. Only thing that will help is losing weight....and in my case I started taking a 'liver support' herb mix that contains white milk thistle. I was dubious (you know I'm from Missouri, SHOW ME!) but sure enough my liver enzymes were completely normal last labs. I'll take what I can get! Dr was surprised when I told him how I got things back to 'normal'.

No, what worked for me won't work for everybody. I was just saying how I did it. And it was HARD! I mean super hard. I was out walking every day and always hungry but doc said I was motivated so I toughed it out. I still walk a lot and yes, I'm still hungry all the time, sigh.

I have the chronic gastritis and colitis so my digestion is all funky also especially since I also have diverticular disease along with fructan intolerance and have to watch everything I eat.

Are you seeing a GI?

Ahhh for the good old days when I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight or get sick from my indulgences.

Good luck. A lot of side effects but worth it to get to a healthy weight

My main problem is I eat to soothe my stress. I need therapy. I can’t seem to find the one.
Ditto. All the therapists I have seen just listen to you talk but don't make helpful suggestions. So it makes me go through all my problems and talk about them, but it actually makes me feel worse! Pottery is better.

Bee, the goat had her triplets! One stillborn, one very wet and chilly, but still alive. One standing up. I took the wet girl, dried her off, laid her under a heat lamp for a while. Last time I checked her, she was standing up. The people are coming to pick them up tonight. Along with Pippin and Peanut. Then I will have 2 does and 4 kids left.

Congratulations, Cap! I for one am going to miss your goats. I lived vicariously through you with your hobby.

Stress. I had a doctor once who told me he never told people to avoid stress because it was impossible. Life by it's very definition is stressful.

And yes, I used to hit the sweets really hard when I was stressed out. I think eating is a common escape.

I also have diverticular disease

My mom has this with some really awful flare-ups with many courses of heavy antibiotics. What helped her was this supplement:

TERRA ORIGIN Healthy Gut
(The Berry flavor is the only palatable one)

It has a lot of ingredients, if you can't take it because of any, the important things you could find separately.
Those include mucilaginous plants like Marshmallow, Slippery Elm, Licorice Root, and Aloe.
MSM is a source of sulfur, a great anti-inflammatory that is very natural.
And Glutamine is an amino acid found to help cell repair in the gut.

I first had her try this supplement because I'd given something with similar ingredients to my horse with ulcers (SmartGut). It really helped support his recovery, I could tell what a difference it made when I tried to take him off it then put him back on.

After a year of taking the Terra one, mom was able to stop using it and resume her normal diet. Which she didn't think she would ever be able to do again after the first flare ups and antibiotic rounds.

I found it on Amazon! Thanks for the tip. Yes, the pain can be horrible if you have the colic with it like I do. Luckily I haven't had a colic outbreak in three years next month but still do have periods of cramping and mild pain. My gut inflammation causes my back to hurt so when I can't move because of my back, I have to sit down and figure out what I am eating that I shouldn't be.

I'm taking Amoxicillin now for the inflammation. I'd rather not so I'll give it a try.:hugs

My Angel has grown. Needs a new apt. Found someone at the pet store today. Will take it by tomorrow. They grow fast and having to find a new place for them is a hassle, sooo, no more Angels. :(View attachment 3910948View attachment 3910949
Do they keep growing regardless of the size of their tank? I know goldfish get bigger if they're in a big tank.

have the NAFLD the non alcoholic variety.
Yup, me too. Don't drink.

Are you seeing a GI?
Probably not often enough. Once a year maybe. As long as I don't have problems with my bile duct they just prescribe me high doses of Famotidine and that's it. I sleep sitting up to control my GERD. Hmmm. Sounds like I need to see them more often, doesn't it? 🤔
