I know it helped me. I went when my sister was murdered. She helped me a lot by just being there. I ended up on meds for PTSD.You are describing DH to a T. The time has to be ripe. They have to be ready. For DH it was when he did something the law got involved. He was on high level of steroids and couldn't control himself. I had to hire a lawyer. I told him it would go much easier for him if he shows he's going for help. It all turned out fine and whenever we hit a hard spot, his Dr has him speak with someone for awhile. It does help because they have fears they are unable to address with us
