Granny's gone and done it again







Grandma Lock's Molasses/Ginger Cookies

3/4 cup CRISCO (have tried butter, lard, and a combo nothing else is quite right)

1 cup sugar

cream above ingredients

add

1/4 cup Brair Rabbit LIGHT molasses

1 lg egg -beaten

I also add the items below at this time (woks for me and I don't miss something)

1 teas of cinnamon

1/2 teas ground ginger

1/2 teas ground cloves

1/4 teas of salt

2 teas of baking soda (do not miss this or you get hockey pucks fit only as dog treats)

BLEND/mix

add 2 cups AP flour

chill until you can handle the dough. roll into smallish balls and then into sugar place on Ungreased cookie sheet YIELD about 4 dozen


bake at 350* for about 10 minutes,

Doesn't work well at high altitudes

you can double or triple a kitchen-aid 6 quart mix does a triple batch nicely

These are great dipped in a glass of cold milk

Norwegian White Cookies

1 cup POWDERED sugar

1 cup butter (I use salted)

cream

1 beaten Lg Egg

2 Teaspoons REAL vanilla

1/2 teas cream of tarter

1/2 teas baking soda

cream beat together

2 cups AP flour

mix well, then chill dough until you can roll into balls or run through a cookie press

Roll balls in sugar and then flatten with a drinking glass with a cut in impression it balls stick, put glass in sugar before pressing

sprinkle with colored sugar YIELD 3 to 4 dozen

Bake @ 350* until edged BARELY start to brown. 6 to 8 minutes

USE a spatula to gently loosen cookies off of cooling rack.
