Granny's gone and done it again

I had broody Silkies that hatched successfully all winter last year. Plus 4 incubators running back to back hatches from the first week of Feb. up to the last week of May. It was a bit crazy for a bit lol.
I had hens hatching out hatch after hatch. Plus one crazy hen that wouldn't break till she hatched which is the one under the goat house :/
That's why I got rid of my Silkies, they were broody all the time & no matter how many stints in the Pokey (broody buster cage) they still wouldn't break. Loved their personalities, just wasn't feasible for me.

I think he filled out some over the summer and fall. AND he needs a lot of neck muscles to hold that head and horns up

Was your goal to make a profit? If so were you able to? Would you recommend it as a way to supplement an income?
It worked for me, was raising spending cash for our vacation. Of course I didnt have to take the extra cost from electric out of the money I earned, but it was a tremendous job. I tried to have each bator of chicks sold before they were hatched. You really need to keep good records & either hatch only one breed a bator each time or have baskets that the chicks CANNOT climb out of. People don't want to pay the price for purebred & then end up with a backyard mix. Hope that helps
