Granny's gone and done it again

We introverts can relate to Walter. The original short story was written in the 30s by James Thurber and I'd like to read that to see the inspiration. Original movie was 1947 with Danny Kaye. I think you would really enjoy Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.

I guess I missed your first post. I swear this computer is skipping posts and I never see them I go back a page.

Camp..I am going back tomorrow to look for some shorts for me...I can look again for more swimsuits or anything else you made need.
They had some very cute things I wanted to get for your DD but I wasn't sure if you would like them...if you ever come back to houston al you need is 20.00 and you would be surprised how much you could buy.

Was it a Scholastic fair? The prices are retail, but it is supposed to be a fund raiser for the school. Ours was dedicated completely to the library since it had no budget to buy new books. Librarians could get half of what was earned in new books or a quarter of the earnings in cash or a combo of both. Librarian would take some cash and hit up the used book stores and thrift shops, so she did very well. I ran the book fair for several years since it supported the library for all the kids, even the ones who did not have money. We did not sell things to kids during the school day unless they came in at lunch with a note from home, most sales were parents before or after school. It was really popular and made a ton of money for the library. But glad my tenure is over, as it took up over 2 weeks of my life, 16 hr+ days.

I gotta shower and get ready.
I am volunteering from 9 to noon today at the school book fair.
I love the cute kids that bing in a quarter and try to by the 20.00 book.
They are clueless when it comes to money.
And shame on the parents for only sending them with a quarter...nothing is that cheap at the school.

Our school has a "free" table of donated books for children who didn't bring money. I get angry when I see kids bring in a dollar or less, but I see the parents and they smoke, covered in tattoos and piercings. But I feel like the older ones should have some money from chores or saved up. I seen a kid bring in $75 for the book fair in the fall.

Kiki I'm mad at you! Sending that great big box without a return address. How am I going to send you surprise eggs and chicks now?? :lau

I didn't want you to mail anything back.
I'll let you know when I do get or build a bator.

I threw in a thing for you..didn't know if you could/would use it but I just had to send something for you too...not just the kids.
I hope DH isn't mad he didn't get anything.
I honestly didn't even think about finding him something.

Are the bathing suits ok?

I didn't get a chance to look. I saw the box as I was running out the door. Not sure when it was brought in.

My mom's the librarian at the elementary. She took over last year in January and walked into a mess. We've been paying with our own money to stock the library. She did get a $500 grant but that's not many hardback books when you have to order from a certain site. She would have loved how the book fair was for the library!

If you leave the thread to check another one or pm or something, it will usually return you to the correct spot, but if there were unread posts on the page, it assumes you read them and skips them when it takes you back to the page.

How long were you employed at the schools ? I know you are still teaching. LOL
I did not teach for very long in public schools. Worked as a teacher at a residential drug treatment program for adolescent offenders- trying to get their GED. Have not worked teaching since my #1 was born. I could not imagine being around kids all day and then coming home to more needy kids.

I taught middle school too. Just imagine... 150 students every day, hormones coursing through their uncontrollable bodies... imagine a room half full of CBs and half of the females version. It was emotionally draining and I have never wanted to go back. Maybe younger kids some day. maybe. Maybe a nice quiet flower shop or book store...
