Lisa, how do you like the ccl and the beilfelder ?
Good personality? Are the roosters mean?

I like both the CCL & the Biele's. Egg production was low for both breeds thru the winter, but that's ok. We don't have the number of egg cus tomes in the winter as we do in the summer. My CCL are a little skittish, but they never were handle much either when they were small. The Biefelders are a VERY docile breed, I call them my gentle giants. I have not had a problem with any of the roosters being mean with either of the breeds

Yep that's what it is. By the time I end up with a breed raised up to sell hatching eggs the craze to have a different breed has already struck.

That's ok by me. I just want a docile, good layer with lots of colorful eggs. I am finding my birds eating a lot this spring.

No the Bielefelder's are slower to mature than the CCL. I would say the number of eggs per week is probably higher with the CCL.
