Granny's gone and done it again

Morning Granny..

I know why I have not posted here much since coming back from the cow poop on the boot people site...

It dawned on me as I sipped my perfectly brewed cup of coffee..

This thread moves fast, I do not, I am too old to move fast....and I can't keep up..
You don't have to keep up. Just say howdy and join in when you can. Live for the moment! :old

That's why i sit on porch or under pear tree when taking a break from chores. Have a fan for nap & night time. House stays fairly cool during the day. I open Windows in early morning & close them at noon.
Hi Jane! We have the windows open all night and a couple of fans going. It's 8 am and I will probably close the windows soon. 74 out and I got the house down to 71. We have a hammock under a big oak at the front of the house. Stays pretty cool under there. There is no end in site for this heatwave. At least 10 more days of it. Not looking forward to fire season this summer.

Good morning everyone! Hubs and I are heading up to MILs for a visit. His sis is leaving for a few days and his brother is visiting from Maui again and will fill in care duties while she is gone.

I am still confused about my Australorp "pullet." Spike is 12 weeks now and huge, has a largish pale pink comb and largish wattles that are red. S/he has looked this way since about 5 weeks old. No signs of male feathering, still has mildly suspicious cockerel-esque behavior. Has anyone ever had a cockerel not be completely red at 12 weeks? I never have, and last night I took a good look at Spike when they were resting before bed and the comb/wattles were very pale... no red at all, barely pink. It is confusing. To make it worse, I could hear that one of the chicks is going through a voice change. Someone out there was making a deeper croaking noise... If Spike is a pullet, she's going to be ruler of the layer mob, very dominant. If Spike is a cockerel, he's anemic!

Fluttershy preens at the edge of the water in the mornings. But she always runs back when she sees me. I got a few candled. I'll try again tomorrow!

I have some with pale combs because of the more dominant ones. Not sure in your case.

Yeah, no other boys in with him/her. Going to do another saddle feather search today. It's driving me crazy, I'm trying to not get too attached, and of course I already have because I pay so much attention to him/her. Even got a name. :oops:The only ones that have been more confusing were 2 big orps I got from a breeder, 1 lav, 1 blue. They grew so s l o w l y.
