I am so sorry Twist!
Life isn’t fair and I hate that you lost both of them. Especially when it seems Enola didn’t have any health problems.


If you can get a chunk of lung from the calf and put it in water you can find out if it was alive after birth. If it floats then the tissue was filled with oxygen, if not then DOA. But due to unknown time and decomp it may be too late to find out. But you may be able to use this in the future.

I was caught up at 10 last night, 11 hours later I was behind 13 pages!!!!

haha! It's more like the days of old on granny's original thread (grannys gone and done it). Did you know this is her second thread? ...a continuation of the first that the mods had her shut down because it was so huge they thought it was bogging the system down.

Could be a ground hog, but i saw bunny poo inside the fenced garden and my bean plants were eaten! Among other things! All of my pea plants!

So frustrating!
Some bunnies you want and some not so much.
Our house bun, Chicory, isn't doing so well. He is very old. are there any good things to feed him to keep some weight on? He gets all the Timothy he can eat, and I upped his pellet ration so there are always some left after he's done chowing down. He gets some fresh greens too, but he keeps getting thinner. Should I feed him carrot and apple for some extra calories? Anything else?

Nutting better than vine ripened mater & bacon Sammie for bfast. Red neck spicy pickled eggs with mayo & pickle relish for 2nd meal of the day. Critters fed & watered. Tiller out of garden for cleaning off tines- wrapped with cockleburs. More peppers planted. Typical morning. Trying to talk myself into picking more ga collards.

BLT... We are still waiting on summer tomatoes around here. Farm market today... I might stop by.

You need to replace the good bacteria in your gut & I know you don't like yogurt. Your going to have to get the pill form. What's it called @Wishing4Wings ?

So very sorry twist, maybe Enola's. Momma probably died first then calf because of no milk Did you look enola over real close to make sure there aren't any gunshot wounds or predator marks?

yep NO gun shot or even any attempt of being eaten other then flies , we didn't open Enola up, and to be honest I have NO intention of doing so, she was to far bloated,

Did notice that when we were hooking the chains up to her head most of the rest of the herd came sort of charging over, been a LONG time since I got in the bobcat that quick Rod was swinging and rattling the chains. lots of yelling . Tibbit's seemed the most upset of the group out there, But then he was her bull calf from 2 years ago.

Not knowing makes it harder, I think. Did you call a vet? I wonder if there are some tissue samples you can get that can be used to tell you anything.
Was the calf a reasonable size? I was thinking it might be a twin and the unborn twin had a problem.

Maybe you should burn the pile incase of illness. So very, very sorry twist, this is just awful.

They are both in the pit , and will get a Viking pyre in the near future.
