Anyone else not a baby person?

My friend had her baby today, they kept trying to make me hold her. I used all my good excuses: dirty hands, sniffles, not taking from gma, etc. They handed me hand sanitizer. They REALLY wanted me to hold the baby. I finally had to just admit that I’m not a baby person. Yes, I had two babies. Yes, I adored my babies. But I’m not really a baby person. Or a kid person. I don’t mind kids coming up to me and I’ll read or tie shoes or make juice cups, whatever. But I don’t initiate contact.

I'm soooo not a baby person. I can do any gross thing you can think of with any species you can think of...accept human infants. Never had kids,never changed a diaper ( puke time for sure..) and held a newborn exactly once. She was 12 lbs. at birth and could almost sit up on her own. Makenzie Joy was my boyfriend's gD. I didnt touch his gS till he was 2 months old b/c he was tiny.I also hated his mother, that made me way less enthusiastic.

Same, but I can handle all the kid yuck, too. Blood, poop, vomit, booger, pee... anything but loose teeth. I don’t know why, but I’ve been dealing with loose teeth for six years and I just can’t. I have to leave the room. So DH handles teeth.

Crying doesn’t bother me, tantrums don’t bother me. I have to give myself more “time outs” now that the kids are older than ever before, because of the arguing. They have such valid reasons for things and I’m too exhausted to counter them most of the time.

I need a solution myself. Huge rip in my couch cushion. Its from dogs running through the house and landing there. I dont have the right needle or thread. I think a sheet or blanket wont last w/ them jumping up on it. I would trash it if I could . Fuzz flying through the house .

I have never been able to do that. The icky factor or the behavior aspect. I couldn't have kids, and it may have been different if they were mine, but not at this stage. But it's not that I dont like them, just out of my comfort zone to be real hands on.

Sigh. My family puts the FUn in dysfunctional. And yes. The caps were intentional. My sibling dealing with this...

At the office solo today. Going to be a super productive day...not. We put my bob tailed Marans in with sickie red last night. They seemed to do alright. Still need to do some tweaking on layout - get some sand for the poop board etc but meah. For now it’ll do.

I really need some chicken and dog therapy right now. Instead I’ll settle for the finest bottle of screw top vino I can grab on my way home tonight.
