My metabolism changed as I got older. For my body type, starches and sugars cause serious weight gain so I quit eating them. I don't miss it too much because I feel so much better not hauling around the extra weight any more. It also helps that there are lots of sugar substitutes that don't cause insulin spikes, so I didn't have to give up chocolate. Almost unthinkable!
I'm with you, Wishing! About the only bread I eat these days is my own homemade, whole-grain. When everyone else is eating sandwiches, I'm eating either a lettuce wrap or just cutting up a chicken patty with lettuce and tomato and eating it as a salad! Store bread just weighs me down, is like an indigestible lead lump in my belly. Bleah. And no greasy meat either. The very thought is painful.
