Do you get any rain in the summers? If it rains or you water, you can rotate pasture... but think it would take quite a large area to feed a yak. They will be on hay anyway, which I'm sure they won't mind too much. they did a study on wild tigers, provided a steady supply of goats to eat, and the tigers were content to stay in a very small area. not their 40 sq mile (or something) territory that they would usually roam while needing to hunt. Betcha wild yaks would hang out at a feeder if it was kept full. But it is nice to see them roaming around, long as they don't get stuck in the creek. Did you ever figure out how to deal with the fly problem?
