We went to Rural King and started with 6 RIR (most likely production reds), 1 buff (he's a roo!), 1 white leghorn and 4 ISA Browns (or that's what they were labeled anyhow!). I am loving watching them grow. We have had them 9 weeks now. The reds were getting older and sold for like 50 cents each, so they could be closer to 10 weeks. the others were pretty small. I wish I'd have thought to ask which hatchery they came from, and how old they were when we got them. I was just so stoked to be taking them home that I lost all thought train.

Missed your post somehow. Sounds like you have a good start for eggs. great price on the reds.

Good morning everyone, over slept once again. The heat just wipes you out I guess. Wanted to mow today, but it was raining & thundering not a half an hour ago. Now sun is out, but everything is wet. Think I will go looking for some strawberries & make some freezer jam.

Im doing good honey, just super busy. This time of year always keeps me hopping. Seems like all the gardens are always needing to be hoed, grass needing to be cut & I have way too many birds this summer. Tired of cleaning 4 coops all the time. Can't wait for these SFH juvies to get grown up enough for me to be 100% sure on their sex before I pair them up with my unrelated line. How are you doing granny. See you have a dilemma with CB. I understand completely. GD is here for the summer, but this year she has a summer job. Now I have extra running getting her back & forth to work. She would move in full time in a hot minute if her mom or I would let her.
