SO Rod discover what has been killing all the chicks.

There were 3 Cinnamon Queens in the maternity ward this morning and they got another bunch of chicks. These are 1 year old hens.

Out of 60 some chicks I am now down to 7.

I figured out a way for you to rid yourself of the predator no matter what is crawling in. Move the chickens somewhere else and put the dogs in there for a few nights.

I got about 1/2 of the hay cut, NOT a good hay crop, no moisture and then all those hot spells so early. Think I am going to have to buy some hay. To get through the winter and if not it isn't going to hurt to have some carry over for next year. As long as hay is kept out of the weather, what ever nutrient's it is going to loose it does in the first year.

going to pick up a couple tubs of feed mix for the yaks in the am. One has flax in it for lactating mothers plus goodies and the other has lots of supplements and goodies for general health and promote fertility and also something that builds up in their system and deters fly's sort of like garlic for humans I believe

Twist, You mean chickens are killing your chicks ?

YES they fly/jump over a 4 ft or higher fence and then run around killing chick. There were 3 doing it today. Lucky I wasn't there I would have 3 hens in the freezer.

None of my other breeds have ever done that, NOT sure if that is a common trait with cinnamon queens (sex link breed ) or not.
