I'd go with silkies or a silkie mix. My black silkie is an excellent mom now. I have a white one setting now and a frizzle.

It gets hot here too. Silkies don't seem overly bothered. They go in the shade. They don't do cold as well as a bigger breed so you need a couple of them to snuggle together. We get anything from 100 to -10.
Thanks newbie. Sounds like a few silkies will be a good fit for me.
I use small buckets, I empty the bucket into the feeders, except for about 2 cups of fermented feed. I dump the new feed in the bucket, add water and stir it well. The next day I empty the other bucket, all except 2 cups of fermented feeds, add fresh feed and water....... Repeat over and over day after day. So the feed only ferments as many days as I want it to.
Enola that's about what I've been doing but after a couple of weeks it stinks terrible. Thinking about starting over each time.
Roost, I am doing good. My rabbit, Smores, has somthing along the line of head tilt and has to have a varity of meds every day. Hoping he gets better and doesnt get any worse.
I hope your rabbit gets better soon watermelon.

No, not that for sure. We think it could be (get ready for some huge word) Encephalitozoonosis, Or EC. My vet thinks that it is not that, wich means it could be cancer.

Keeping high hopes that it isnt cancer, but you never know.

For thoes who don't know what tilt head/ wry neck is, this is what I am dealing with:

is there a red sussex or are they referring to speckled ? think i see white spots and what is better, that or lakenvelder ?

I think they have more colors in Europe, but we only have light, buff, and speckled as recognized colors. Buff and light both have the dark feathers on neck and tail, like brahmas.

As to which is better, you know my vote. :D

Sounds like our house

I have banned the other half from smoking in the house though since I decorated. It's more the dog hair, straw, shavings, hay and clumps of mud in ours!! My SIL is super clean she has no animals and her house is immaculate!! I always like her to give warning if she is coming to ours so I can vac all the hair up. No matter how I try our house is never as clean as hers.

sort of like Daisy and Hyathinsea on "Keeping up apperances"
