working hard on talking myself out of it as all the breeds they have , I don't have any actual experience with and will already be keeping the New Hamp's in the brooder room to see how they are for eggs. Once I get a breed that works for me, then They can be in gen pop and I have two rooms/buildings to check out new breeds.

I have a New Hamp... one of my best layers... even at 3 yrs old, but only one so super small sample size.

Pic's from my sis of her 2 littles and the newest addition Ruby, 15 wks old I guess they got her 3 days ago or so.
Adorable... all three. Is that a Cavalier spaniel??

morning, My water softner is off time. It is supposed to clean itself at 2am . Its doing it at 6:30 waking me up. I dont know how to program it. LOL Its in my closet.
How are you ?
Have you had power outages recently that would account for the internal clock having gotten off time? Google the model of your water softener and you can probably find all sorts of easy to follow tutorials on how to reset things.

That's either marketing genius or the pet store owner has a huge flock made up of all the unsold ones.

Just went to the feed store today. No more chicks for sale, but they had some turkey poults.

Yeah - I'm going to chalk it up to them being within the "urban growth boundary" so technically they are considered part of the greater metro area meaning they are being shopped by the boutiquey type of shoppers/chicken keepers who just don't realize they are being taken advantage of. Most of the places that sell chicks within the metro are the boutique type stores, urban homesteading stores, etc that appeal to the hipster/yuppy types.

Am not starting good. Went out to water-fertilize cabbage/brussel sprouts. ALL cabbage gone! Only 4 brussel sprouts left. No Wishing. It wasn t chickens. Mulch wasn t disturbed. Suspect a rabbit.
Oh no -- bad bunnies, bad bad bunnies!

yes this it my sister's second one. the first was called amber aka smelly Chewbacca. BAD bulging eye's and very stinky

I have 9 or 10 New Hamp's in the brooder room now. they don't hold still so much to count.

Just popping in while I wait for MIL to show - off to the island for some produce today. Have to giggle, this particular island has a beach area that is "clothing optional" - pretty sure it isn't going to extend into the pumpkin patch, but that could sure make for some interesting produce jokes.....maybe just not on a trip with the MIL.......
Think DS and I are going to venture across the river tomorrow - there's a great supermarket over there that has a huge bulk food section and I need to stock up on a few key pantry items and some more things for my spice cupboard (and FIL is coming for dinner Sunday so I'm making big pot of chili, need stuff for that). He and I haven't had a chance to really go do anything since school started so this will give us a chance to talk about how everything is going maybe beyond his usual one word answers when he gets home after school every day.
