enola, thats what i think too but they have had it for 2 yrs and that is all they ever gave it. I am trying to find a picture. I think it may not be a screech .

I misunderstood your post about the owl. Thought you meant you didn't know if it was actually an owl at all.



Does it have anything that looks like little ear tufts? If not, and it has longish legs and is calico, it might be a burrowing owl. they're very small.
 
Mae West!  :D   She looks like a lap chicken!  She's a large fowl, yes?  I want a couple of the large ones, but worry about how they handle heat.  The bantams I've got have so much leg and foot feathering, you can only see a couple of toes, and that's when you're handling them too. 


Yes, large fowl. The breeder calls them giant cochins, not sure if that's bigger than normal or just to differentiate fr her bantams?

Mae was toted by many a chicken-fearing city kid over the summer. She handled the heat pretty well, because she survived when others didn't. I let them out in the hottest months and they'd scratch around under the azaleas or stand in puddles and slurp worms. I figured they could keep themselves cool better than I could.
