California is so big, it's got many distinct areas- low desert, high desert, coastal ranges (where I live), Sierra Nevada Mtns (including Yosemite) and more.  Even the Pacific ocean is different, depending where you go.  Warm and swimable in the south, cold and deadly up north where I live, but we've got the redwoods .  It's got something for everyone, but it's getting harder and harder to live here. 

I'd love to see those redwoods! Seems like someone told me that there was a tree that was in the middle of the road that you could drive through. Is that true or did I dream that?

Over 95% of the old growth is gone now, logged from northern California up through Oregon and Washington. Sad. Trying to save what little is left. that's neat tippy! I never knew this was a way that you could test eggs until a few days ago. Wonder how store bought eggs would do with this?

And that's just one reservoir. There are hundreds, and none of then are in good shape. Up here in the north, we depend on the Sierra snow pack to fill up the reservoirs when it melts in the spring. There was almost no snow last winter. No ski season. No snow melt.

It wouldn't be a dent. We're in for historical rainfall and flooding this winter. If it all runs off into the ocean, not so good. If we get a nice deep snow pack in the Sierra's that is what we pray for.
