sorry to hear that mare. perhapes you would want to be tested as well. as Lisa said, it is /can be heredity

That's something I have been thinking about a LOT since she got the news.  Her's came seemingly out of nowhere and was diagnosed after she was hospitalized.  I made mention of having a "spare kidney" if she needed it after she first told me and she mentioned that would depend on whether I have it as well.....so now I am battling with the question of whether or not I want to know (would have to find out if she did end up needing a kidney since that is the first thing they do with siblings wanting to donate to verify that the sibling is not also effected).
Get tested Mare, renal failure is nothing to mess with. Lost my dad to renal, liver & heart failure. He did dialysis for almost 3 years. Near the end it wouldn't work anymore. He wasn't kidney replacement material. I offered & we looked into it but he wasn't a candidate.

His son's had it mounted for him but was to big for the house so it went to the local bar and he got to see it almost every night Then his oldest got it back had it cleaned and hung it in his house after "beefing UP " the wall it went on. The buck field dressed at about 220 lbs.
