i forgot to lock their door last night. i normally do a head count in the morning but they were up and at it before i got up. lol i didnt see any signs of a struggle but they JUST started laying today so she is not nesting. they are having another swap at tsc may 3rd. was thinking about downsizing my flock to about 25. if i can get someone to go that is. i am having a hard time keeping up with every thing since mom got sick. food bill is getting pretty hard to handle with all the extra expenses. that would mean getting rid of all the adults and only keeping the babies. not a great swap. see how it goes i guess.

my mother is a remarkable woman, i found a sitter for her today so i could get my husband to the dr. he now is getting home health care.his legs are crying. anyway, i hadnt been home long when the phone rings and its a preacher from Columbus IN. said hospice had called him stating that mom would be interested in speaking with him.so i gave mom the phone. eavesdropping , i heard her say" i am dying, i would like for you to come to my home and hold prayer and say a few words over me when i am gone." he will be here saturday.

dont quote me but i think that is about 90 miles away.

We had hospice come in with both my Mom and Dad. They were really great and it was nice having the extra support.

perhaps my luck is changing, i lost a guinea the other night when i forgot to lock them up, this morning i have 3 extra. one white and 2 pearls i wouldnt of even noticed if not for the white one. thought i was not awake good yet and seeing double. i wondered and worried all night about my white one not coming to bed like she usually does. hahaha then when she was wandering around this morning calling for the others i was like, thats what you get for not going to bed. then when i loosed the beasts, here comes a white one. i was like , what ? wait a min. hahhaa

Wow, I haven't checked in on this thread in a few days....dead chickens. bird MIA, plastic easter egg hunts and the preacher coming to hold prayer for your mom Granny!

Yes, hospice people really do care. They go out on a limb to take care of the aged. It is far to difficult to take care of a loved one by yourself. And being able to stay at home and out of the hospitals is all possible because of these great folks at hospice.

Hope you are holding up Granny. Do the best you can with your flock and let things be as they well be.

some one is coming to mow and weed whip for me tomorrow

i accidentally gave mom her sleeping pill at 8 instead of waiting until she is in the bed. im just used to giving all her meds. at that time. was wondering why she was dozing in the chair. lol guess thats not as bad as standing on the oxygen tubing while cooking today. this big ol alarm went off and my first thought was smoke detector. (my cooking) i about peed myself. my heart cant take all this drama. poor mom

When my dad was on an oxygen concentrator my brother's 2 year old cranked the dial all the way up. Took us hours to figure out why dad was "high" I still give her "grief" about cranking dials 17 years latter.

lol, funny. i didnt know pure oxygen would make you high. was just rereading my post about the smoke detector and found it funny because last night the (hard wired ) smoke detector went off about all night. it doesnt even have a battery in it. sooo, with that being said, my moms dog is afraid of loud noises. she pooped in the floor, mom snuck out of bed and let her out. how do i know all this?? the dog was clawing on the door wanting out , bang, bang every time she hit the door, woke me up, the first place i head is the bathroom where my bare feet get a nice warm surprise, i go to the kitchen for paper towels and her tubing is wrapped all around the island, (she went one way and came back another) just had to push a button on the smoke alarm. and now i am up for the day. good times.
