Sorry about your broody, red.

Boy, you sure are having a trial by fire. Chickens are capable of recovering from serious injury, so don't give up on her. I wonder if the dog heard the chick peeping and that set him off. We had a huge lab when I was a kid that never ever bothered the chickens, but a fuzzy chick was considered hor d'oeuvres. Chicks weren't safe from him until they were feathered.

Keep the broody warm and quiet and hydrated if possible. Putting a towel over whatever you are keeping her in helps. Maybe she will hatch the rest of the eggs for you.

there not in my room. he just looked too. he swears DS put them in there and he says he didnt . wonder if there still in the van. Im gonna go look in his room

sorry star , was the consolation prize better then what you have now ?  A foot in the door ?

Well considering it is an hours drive away WITHOUT TRAFFIC...nope.

And it's just with a bank where....the local branch loves me. There's a risk of evenings and weekends (hubs would be most upset) if I really wanted that job I'd apply at the local branch not an hours drive away.

Sigh. Frustrating part is....I put in my notice at the Mart so we could go to the desert for thanksgiving. And now it looks like nobody is going. So i put in my notice for nothing.
Sorry Star, you didn't want to be at KMart for the holiday hoopla or black Friday anyways. Maybe family will reconsider Thanksgiving get-together, hope so.

Considering the family dynamic between hubs family and him....nope.

My fam is all up in Canada so that does no good.

It was more a gathering of friends who were better than family....going to the desert has been traditions for years and years.

Well worst nightmare happened. I pull in the yard to find my dog with the broody in her mouth trying to rip her apart. I hollered at the dog and he left her alone. To my surprise She got up and run. Her tail is almost ripped off and the wing may be broke. I washed her good ,poured peroxide on the wounds and then triple ointment. I have no idea how to keep a bandage on it. Looked where the dog had busted through the kennel to get her and the egg that I thought was zipping had hatched. Got the chick and the eggs under the heat lamp. When can I try to get the baby to drink? And how do I do it. This may quality as one of my worst days of my life. I blame no one but myself. I should've never left the dog out but I have everyday and nothing has happened. I know that a coyote could've done the same . Know I know unfortunately.

here Sally thanks granny

your kidding! oh boy. Cant say I have never been there with six springers but not when I am going through this maternity issue dang!!! sounds like its under control, Vetiwrap is the best for sticking to fowl, and be careful when feeding liquids to chicks, Kathy and others can explain caution with that, which they probably did, but I am much too lazy at this time of night to read through all the thread

so forgive me. nice and easy just inside the beak, dont wanna drown a chick by forcing it down, best to let them drink on their own by dippin a beak and teaching what the water is..... seen many chicks get drown by folks on here. just tryin to force feed or "water" chicks thinking their gonna save life, and then they say to me.... oh no its breathing heavy sighhhhhh oooopsiesss....

RIR is now mother of mother and chicks now.

I will check in the morning and see how they are doing.

Who complained to mods about Shabanas post?
Weird that she posted almost the same thing as you were thinking. I doubt anyone flagged it. I bet Sumi saw it and took it off. Since you had asked, she was probably primed for it. I didn't think it was any worse than some of the others.

Well, they decided to go with another candidate.

Sigh.

She then made a peace offering of a temp job at a bank for even less and even more of a commute.

It's only the first interview! Keep at it and you'll find the right position.

Quote: Sometimes things happen for a reason. Apply for everything that looks remotely good. When the recession started, my hubs got laid off. No paycheck for 2 years. He applied for anything, even some that were 3 hours away. It gave us a really good feel for what was out there, and made it easier to know what to turn down and when the right job came around.

Not saying to take 2 years, of course, but keep hope. There's a great job out there somewhere just waiting for you to find it.

I was reading that caption thread and thought some of the replies were very close to what might not be appropriate.
