I have a skirt around it but she climbs well and I have chicken wire up there .

yes but usually because they are in a heat cycle. Lena my first springer got one so bad she swelled up tight and couldn't even piddle.

well that sounds better then bleeding all over the house. but its her hoo hoo she is after. and it is big.

sounds like a heat cycle to me. To you have a kennel or HIGH fenced in area you could put her??

Need a dog kennel in your yard for times like this. ThAts what we do till old enough to spay.

Perfect! One mistake people make is letting them loose too early, thinking the heat is over when they stop bleeding. NOT! They almost stop bleeding when they are ovulating. You'll need to keep her penned up for the entire 3 weeks.

I need to call it a night. DH is going to help me get the yard cleaned and the coops ready for us to leave. The folks chicken-sitting for us are real fix-it types, and too old to stoop through a 4ft coop every day. Plus the roosts and nest boxes.

He said if I say one single mean thing to him that I'm on my own. that I can be nice for a few hours.
