is there communion at weddings ?
It's the "body" and the "blood" or bread and wine. Usually bread and juice. We don't believe that the bread and juice are sacred in and of themselves, but what they represent is sacred. It's the same reason a person can only be baptized once in the Methodist church vs other denominations.
There can be communion at weddings, but it isn't mandatory. It's like lighting a unity candle, or a special song. Can be added, but doesn't affect the service. I've known couples who served communion, then washed each other's feet, or washed everyone's feet. DH and I wanted a quick service, so we tacked on very few "extras."
