Good morning!!! Have all but given up on ever being caught up and hope I didn't miss anything too important (who knows, maybe this weekend I'll get to stay home and have some free time, not holding my breath). I'm just not sure either of us have weasels. I know the demographic maps show them, but I have never seen one, or heard of anyone seeing one, in south Texas.

I don't know if it was a cat that got the rooster. Sure was a lot of feathers spread around. Looks more like a dog did it, maybe a small one.

But don't fool yourself about an adult feral cat being able to kill some pretty good sized chickens. I was having problems with something getting a chicken every 3-4 nights. Couldn't figure out where it was getting in at. But since it couldn't get the chicken out after killing it, I was finding partially eaten chickens. Finally set a live trap with the latest killed chicken in it for bait in the chicken house. Two mornings later I found a male cat in the trap. No more dead chickens after that.

A hungry, adult feral can indeed take out an fully grown bird, especially if they are able to get to them at night while they are at roost since they are pretty much sitting ducks at that point. Heck, one of our house/farm cats tried to take down an adult wild turkey one day----she wasn't successful, but she was not at all hesitant about making the attempt..

I never had stake-um before. easy but was expensive for the subs.

DH is a fan of them - but it is spendy. WM and Kroger both have a knock off version that is cheaper than the brand name - -and you can also buy steak, freeze it for about 10-15 minutes and slice it super thin (the freezing makes it easy) - you can get a LOT more meat for the same price doing it that way.

I just saw that there has been some address (and card) swapping going on - I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I would very much appreciate it if anyone willing to share their address with me would PM it to me so that I might join in the fun. I'm so far behind this year I have to sit down and do all my cards this weekend

Or maybe someone has consolidated it all to one easy list already of folks who are comfortable sharing addresses with those on this thread??? I am going back through trying to find the posts where you were so kind as to ask for my address and get it out to those who wanted it - if I miss your post and you asked for it I am sorry, there are a LOT of pages for me to go back through so if you asked and I haven't sent it please let me know and know that my not sending it is not because I don't want to, just because I haven't seen your post yet...........
