Twisted.. My best layers are austrolorps and the Giants... But the Giants eat a lot and are slow growers... Good meat if you have the time and money.

I really like the lorps for the eggs absolutely NO complaints but the one spare roo we butchered was a royal PITA little black feather pockets just under the skin. We haven't eaten him yet going to roast him and a slw roo a same time than then do a taste comparison. LOL

OMG! I am trying to put a bed-skirt on my king size bed. It has a memory foam mattress and that thing weighs a ton! Plus it has two cats on it that think this is fun! Lift the mattress, hike it up on my shoulder, then slide the skirt as far as i can get it. Run around to the other side, do the hoist, slide the skirt, go the the first side, pull the skirt up.... exausting! I'm about 1/3 of the way done!

She actually has 5 chicks under her when I checked earlier. If the 1 remaining egg hasnt hatched by morning I will remove it & candle it. If its still viable I will put it under the sister broody who only has 1 egg that's to hatch in the next 2 days.

Congratulations Lisa.:weee

Anyone that has had leghorns can tell you that is a load of crap. I have actually bought dirtier eggs from walmart than I have gotten from my coop. Either way, you can't make an egg much whiter than they are when they are laid.

They're as white as white can get. I do remember something about spraying though. But that could've be the way they washed them it may be been on that shoe that that shows you how it made or something like that. Can't remember.

hello beautiful peeps, :plbb    paint that blue. LOL   Lisa, Twist is looking for you ......    I think he wants something..:ep   grilled cheese burnt.  tomato soup had basil in it. :sick
Red sent me some x lax,  I do believe he thinks I am full of it !  I got 3 cards today !!!!!  2 from the same person so I am twice as nice !!!!

I know just what mean :barnie

I gave up with mine in the end and when I bought new bedding I got fitted valance sheets. Far easier as the skirt is on the sheet so just goes on in one.
Has saved a lot of hassle and back braking work!

That is the main reason it a true bedspread   or nothing in my house.  Now skirts on a lady is totally different.   And in mho that is where they should stay

No bedspreads over here I'm afraid, all duvets. We have a divan bed so if it didn't have a skirt on it would drive me insane looking at it!! Our bed must be a lady!

Howdy everybody! Over 30 pages to read this morning, so now I'm ready for a nap.

Hi Everyone, here is my YouTube link for broody momma & chicks
A wondrous sight to behold! Little everyday miracles, aren't they?

Hugs for you newfie! Sorry you're feeling blue. Hard to cheer up when you have a grinchy scrooge in the house. Maybe he's really feeling it too. Hugs for grinchy scrooge too!

Quote: What do you have against red chickens?? If it weren't for that, I'd say to look into New Hampshires.
You should get several of whatever breeds you are considering to test them out. Taste test, that is. Supposedly some breeds are yummier than others. My SLW never did lay a large egg. Pretty, but won't be getting more. Her name is Grumpus... nuff said.
